Reading City Council voted Monday evening to confirm Mayor Eddie Morán’s appointment of Joseph Famiglietti as the City’s Finance Director.
Famiglietti has served as the City’s Acting Finance Director for the past four months after joining the City approximately two and a half years ago as Accounting Manager. He brings more than 16 years of accounting experience, including nine years in government finance.
Before joining the City of Reading, Famiglietti served in several financial leadership roles with the County of Berks, including Budget Analyst in the Department of Budget and Finance, Senior Governmental Accountant in the County Controller’s Office, and Fiscal Manager for Children and Youth Services.
“My administration has always believed in investing in our employees and promoting from within whenever possible,” said Mayor Eddie Morán. “Joe has earned this opportunity through his hard work, leadership, and commitment to the City. His extensive experience in public finance and his proven performance as Acting Finance Director made him the right choice for this role. I appreciate City Council’s confirmation of my appointment and look forward to continuing our work together to keep Reading on a strong financial path.”
Originally from Connecticut, Famiglietti moved to the Berks County area 26 years ago. He volunteers as Treasurer for the Wilson Junior Soccer Club Board and serves as a youth soccer coach.
“I am grateful to Mayor Morán for his confidence in me and to City Council for confirming my appointment,” said Famiglietti. “It has been an honor serving as Acting Finance Director, and I look forward to continuing to work with our Finance team and City departments to ensure we remain fiscally responsible while supporting the services our residents rely on every day.”
As Finance Director, Famiglietti will oversee the City’s financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, payroll, treasury functions, and long-term fiscal planning.
