Reading Public Library launches Summer@RPL with season-long activities for all ages

The Reading Public Library is gearing up for a summer filled with books, creativity, and community with the return of its annual Summer@RPL program. The festivities begin with a Kickoff Party on Saturday, June 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Main Library’s Children’s Department.

The event will include free food, games, balloon art, and prizes, along with a chance to pick up reading and activity logs and learn more about the events scheduled throughout the summer.

Running from June 14 through August 9, Summer@RPL spans all library branches and offers something for every age group. The seasonal program includes a mix of educational and entertaining events such as live wildlife programs and musical performances. Participants are grouped into three categories—children, teens, and adults—with incentives for each. Kids and teens can earn prizes by completing reading and activity challenges, while adults will be entered into drawings for gift cards for each book they read.

“Summer@RPL offers a variety of fun learning experiences, encourages recreational reading, and introduces kids, teens, adults, and families to the many enriching resources that the library has to offer,” said Emily McNulty, Assistant Director at Reading Public Library.

With a goal of sparking imagination and fostering a love of reading, Summer@RPL invites the entire community to engage with the library in new and exciting ways throughout the summer months.
