Suspect forcibly entered Reading home before fatal shooting, police say

A man was killed and another injured during a shooting early Friday morning after a suspect forcibly entered a residence in Reading, according to police.

Officers with the Reading Police Department were dispatched to the 500 block of Lancaster Avenue at approximately 2 a.m. on July 10 for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found two adult men suffering from possible gunshot wounds. Police said the preliminary investigation determined that a suspect had forcibly entered the residence, and during the incident both victims sustained injuries. One of the victims suffered fatal injuries.

Initial emergency dispatch reports indicated the suspect fled the scene. Police said the shooting is not believed to be a random act of violence.

The investigation remains ongoing.
