A 31-year-old Reading man is facing multiple felony charges after an investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl, according to the Berks County District Attorney’s Office.
Michael Sanchez was charged on July 16 with aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children and indecent assault.
According to the district attorney’s office, Berks County detectives began investigating in January 2026 after receiving multiple ChildLine referrals from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services reporting that a 13-year-old girl was the victim of suspected sexual abuse.
Authorities said a forensic interview was conducted in February at the Berks County Children’s Alliance Center in Reading. During the interview, the victim disclosed that Sanchez had sexually abused her. Investigators also allege he showed the victim sexually explicit videos and anime.
The investigation determined the alleged abuse occurred in January 2026 at a residence in the 000 block of South Second Street in Reading.
Following the filing of charges on July 16, Magisterial District Judge Priscilla Campos issued an arrest warrant for Sanchez.
According to the district attorney’s office, Sanchez surrendered to members of the Berks County Sheriff’s Department at the Berks County Courthouse on July 17. He was fingerprinted and photographed at the Central Processing Center before being arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Kyley L. Scott.
Court officials committed Sanchez to the Berks County Jail after bail was set at $100,000.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and Sanchez is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
