Threshold marked a new chapter in its more than 60-year history on Monday, August 17, with a ribbon-cutting celebration unveiling the organization’s new brand identity to the community at its main headquarters, 1000 Lancaster Avenue, Reading.
The event brought together Threshold leadership, staff, clients, board members, community partners, political leaders, and supporters to celebrate an updated look and message designed to better reflect the organization Threshold is today and the people it serves.
Formerly known publicly as Threshold Rehabilitation Services, Inc., the organization is moving forward simply as Threshold, accompanied by a refreshed logo, color palette, typography and the new tagline, “Care that Elevates. Support that Lasts.”
While the brand has changed, Threshold’s purpose remains firmly rooted in the work it has carried out for generations: empowering individuals with disabilities and mental health needs to lead fulfilling, independent lives through compassionate care, meaningful opportunities and community connection.
“Threshold has grown and evolved tremendously over the years, and we wanted our brand to reflect the organization we are today and the future we are continuing to build,” said Dr. Edward B. Michalik, President/CEO of Threshold. “This new identity represents possibility, growth, and the strength of the people we support. Most importantly, it reinforces what has always been at the heart of Threshold: providing compassionate, consistent support that helps people live meaningful and independent lives.”
The rebrand was developed to create a clearer and more recognizable identity for Threshold while making it easier for community members, families, partners, and prospective clients to understand the full breadth of the organization’s services and impact.
Threshold provides support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health needs through services including residential programs, employment services, and mental health programs. The organization has grown from a small, compassionate provider into a trusted community resource serving individuals and families throughout the region.
The organization’s new visual identity also reflects themes central to Threshold’s work. The doorway imagery incorporated into the brand symbolizes growth and guidance, while the figure within the mark represents empowerment and the opportunity to move forward. The refreshed brand uses warm, optimistic colors intended to convey hope, strength, and a welcoming environment.
Monday’s ribbon cutting served not only as the public introduction of Threshold’s new identity, but also as a celebration of the organization’s history, the people who have shaped it, and the possibilities ahead.
“This is more than a new logo,” Michalik added. “It is an opportunity to tell Threshold’s story more clearly, connect with more people in our community, and ensure that those who need support know that our doors are open.”
As Threshold enters its next chapter, the organization will continue expanding awareness of its programs, strengthening community partnerships, and sharing the stories of the individuals, families, and staff who bring its mission to life every day.
